The Mortgage Loan Originator position responsibilites vary widely from company to company and team to team.
Our philosophy is that an MLOs has two key rolls: 1) Relationship Manager with active clients and referral partners, and 2) Provide consultation on loan programs and educate your client and which program is best for their unique scenario. You deserve to be treated with dignity, respect and be appreciated for what you bring to the team.
An MLO should be able to spend 25% or less of their time in the office and 75% of the time meeting with clients, marketing their business, and in community involvement. That only happens when the MLO has a great support team.
Behind the scenes an MLO needs a trusted operations team to support their business and move the loan from initial loan submission to final approval. Your team should provide proactive ongoing updates to you so you can effectively commicate to your clients and all interested parties in the transaction.
An MLO should not be chasing down paperwork, coordinating closing, and asking when the loan is going to be approved.
As a prospective MLO you need to be a specialist not a generalist who handles the loan from A to Z.
With industry leading technology our Loan Originatino System (LOS) is superior to the archaic systems like "Encompass", "Byte" "Point" and typical mainframe systems banks use. This saves you time and allows you to edit files and restructure loans quickly.
Choose between two compensation and responsiblity options but know that whether you close 100 loan per year or 6 loans per year you, your loans and your customers will be treated with the same level of appreciation, support and appreciation. Every loan is important. Every customer is important.
Option One: 140 BPS compensation requires the MLO to close at least 2 loan per month on average and or $500,000 in loan volume. This position requires the MLO to be actively engaged with the process and in ongoing direct communication with their client and all interested parties in the transaction.
Option Two: 90 BPS compensation requires teh MLO to clost at least 6 loan annually and or 1.5 in loan volume annually. This position allows the MLO to work part time and is perfect to stay at home parents or MLO's who have a seperate full time job. The lower compensation is offered in exchange for the MLO to have another MLO monitoring their loans and hands on support from the Branch Manager.
We have concerige office and conference room space when needed but in this high tech age and in light of an MLO needing to be mostly in the field full time offices are not offered.

Personal:
Steve is the Branch Manager of Knox Mortgage Team. Steve and his partner Heidi reside in
Mill Creek, Lakes Neighborhood. Steve was a founding member of the Jackson High School Track
and Cross Country Booster Club. Steve is well known in the community as the organizer of the
annual “Run of the Mill 5K” charity event which is held in the Mill Creek Town Center each
summer. Through the Run of the Mill event Steve has raised and donated over $300,000
to local charities. Steve is on the Board of Directors of the Mill Creek Town Center
Merchant’s Association.
In his spare time Steve enjoys playing golf, gardening and spending time with family.
Business:
Steve provides highly personalized service to his clients with an emphasis on making
them part of the process through consultation and education. Prior to his mortgage career,
Steve was the President of Knox Management Strategies, a business consulting firm and as a
retail executive with Eddie Bauer, American Eagle Outfitters and Melville Corporation.
How I Invest In My Community:
I appreciate Knox Mortgage Team’s “Knox Mortgage Team” program and how we give back to the
communities we serve. This program also encourages us as individuals to be involved in our
communities and I do so mostly through my efforts to plan, organize and execute the annual
Run of the Mill 5K event.
Through this event we have donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to local charities and
schools including programs that tend to have the least funding such as Jackson High School
Track, Cross Country and Swimming, Glacier Peak Cross Country, Archbishop Murphy Swim Team,
Lake Stevens High School Track and Cross Country, Mariner High School Track and Cross
Country, Bishop Blanchet Swim Team, Boy Scouts of America, West Coast Aquatics, Lakewood
High School Track and Cross Country, Washington Track and Field Cross Country Coaches
Association. In additional about half of the funds from this event are donated to Providence
Hospitals Linda Baltzell Cancer Patient Assistance Fund.

Heidi is a lifelong Seattle native, growing up in Ballard and now living in Mill Creek with
her partner Steve and two kids Russell and Ruby. When not working, Heidi is either taking
care of the family, golfing or entertaining.
Business:
After a successful retail sales career in the bridal industry and at Nordstrom, Heidi
joined Knox Mortgage Team. Her first position within the company was Marketing Manager and
now Loan Originator with a key emphasis on helping her clients have the best experience when
working with her and the company!
